WAITING FOR A MIRACLE

CREATIVE DOCUMENTARY | 40 MIN | IN POST-PRODUCTION
ROMANIA, NETHERLANDS

Synopsis Once a year, waiting becomes a religious experience on the streets of the Romanian city Iasi. Few hundred thousand pilgrims celebrate the memorial day of Saint Parascheva by queuing up to 20 hours to bid at her shrine. They form a kilometers long line on the city streets. It is believed that the Saint works miracles around her commemoration day. In a stylized way, the film follows the life and the rhythm of the line, from its forming until the pilgrim gets the chance to touch the Holy shrine. Waiting for a miracle is a reflection on the desire for miracles in our lives and in Romanian society.
