ABOUT
NoCut Film Collective® was founded in 2016 by Cristina Hanes (Romania), Arya Rothe (India) and Isabella Rinaldi (Italy) after studying together at DocNomads Master Course in Documentary Directing.
The first production of NoCut Film Collective® is the feature length creative documentary "A Rifle and a Bag" directed and produced by the three co-founders.
The collective fosters and produces author-driven documentaries in collaboration with filmmakers from all over the world. To date, NoCut Film Collective® co-produced internationally with countries like Nepal, South Korea, India, Romania, Belgium, Netherlands, Qatar, Italy, Portugal.
We envision filmmaking as collaborative and transcultural.
Arya Rothe
Arya is a documentary director, editor and producer based out of Pune, India. She is one of the 2023 Logan Elevate Grantee awarded by International Documentary Association (IDA). She graduated in 2016 from DocNomads Master Course. Before DocNomads, she studied at FAMU - National Film School of the Czech Republic. Arya has garnered support for her work from organizations such as the Doha Film Institute, IDFA Bertha Fund, Chicken and Egg Films, DMZ Docs, AlterCine Foundation and Creative Europe. She has worked in various roles, including director, writer, and editor on documentary projects for platforms like Arté, RTBF, Netflix, and Amazon Prime.
Cristina Hanes
Cristina is a Romanian creative documentary film director and producer based in Oradea, Romania. She co-directed and co-produced “A Rifle and a Bag” with Arya Rothe and Isabella Rinaldi. Her short film "António and Catarina" (2017) won the Pardino D'oro Award for Best International Short at Locarno Festival in 2017. She is an alumna of Emerging Producers, Berlinale Talents, DocNomads and Aristoteles Workshop. She completed her BA in Cinematography in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Isabella Rinaldi
Isabella is an independent filmmaker based in Rome. She graduated DocNomads Master Course after getting her BA in Film Studies at Sapienza University in Rome. Besides her NoCut work, she directed one episode “Liberland” of the documentary series “Borderline” produced by Off World production based in Belgium. It premiered at Visions du Reel.
